Avon Extends Christmas Tree Pickups Due To Weather: UPDATE

The Town of Avon said residents have more time to properly dispose of their natural Christmas trees.

AVON, CT — Christmas is over, and what to do with the tree is still a top priority.

And, due to the recent snowfall, many Christmas trees are currently buried and not easily accessible.

As a result, the Avon Department of Public Works will continue curbside tree collection throughout February, as conditions allow and snow begins to melt.

Tree pickups began Jan. 2 and were slated to be finished on Friday, Jan. 30, but the weather prompted officials to extend the pick-up period.

folks can still leave their tree at the curb, and crews will make multiple passes through town.

There is no set schedule by street.

"We appreciate your patience as we work around winter’s challenges," wrote the town on Wednesday.
