Eclipse Viewing Party Set For Monday In Avon

The town is hosting the event at one of Avon's public parks.

AVON, CT — If you have nothing to do Monday afternoon in Avon, the town has a special event that cannot be "eclipsed."

In fact, the community is invited to the Town of Avon's "Community Eclipse Viewing Party" at the Thompson Road Recreation Center, 99 Thompson Road.

The event will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. with guests invited to bring a picnic and gather at one of the park's expansive fields, offering a perfect view of this astronomical wonder.

Participants are being asked to bring their own, "eclipse-certified glasses" to be able to see the eclipse safely.

Those glasses are available at several retailers, including Lowe's, Walmart and other stores.
