AVFD To Conduct Training On West Main Street

The public can observe the training exercise, but at a safe distance.

AVON, CT — If you see a massive amount of firefighters on West Main Street Saturday morning, no need to fret.

They're simply training for when the emergency is real.

The Avon Volunteer Fire Department said Thursday night it is conducting a large-scale training exercise at 315 W. Main St. on Saturday morning.

"The fire department has been given an opportunity for training in a building that is slated for demolition," wrote the AVFD in a release.

"You may see a large fire department presence in the area starting at 6:45 a.m. and continuing until 10 a.m."

In fact, fire officials said those interested can, even, watch them prepare for the worst.

The AVFD said those interested in observing can do so, provided they remain at a safe distance.

According to the announcement, AVFD representatives will direct folks interested in observing to a safe place to watch.
