Gas Leak At Avon School Prompts Evacuation
The incident happened Tuesday afternoon at a private Montessori school on Fisher Drive.

AVON, CT — A gas leak at the Farmington Valley Academy Montessori School prompted a precautionary evacuation Wednesday afternoon, according to the Avon Volunteer Fire Department.
Reach Wednesday morning, department spokesperson Laura Ward said the call came in from 150 Fisher Drive, which is the school building's address.
According to the AVFD, firefighters traced the reported odor to a leak on the building’s roof, secured the gas supply, and coordinated with the utility company to complete repairs.

Students and staff were evacuated safely, and no illnesses or injuries were reported, fire officials said on social media.
Following the school incident, crews also responded to a two-car motor vehicle crash and a fire alarm elsewhere in town.

Officials said the responses reflect the range of emergencies handled by the department on a daily basis.
