Gas Leak Report Leads To Avon High School Evacuation

Avon High School temporarily evacuated Monday morning due to a report of a gas leak.

AVON, CT — Avon High School was temporarily evacuated Monday morning due to a gas leak, according to police. A report of a natural gas odor came in at 8:08 a.m.

Police and firefighters temporarily evacuated the school. Firefighters conducted a sweep of the building and determined the source of the odor was from the science classrooms.

Connecticut Natural Gas is assisting with determining the exact location and cause of the leak.
Currently, there are no disruptions to surrounding traffic or neighborhoods.
