Helpers Sought To Rid Avon Trail Of Invasive Plants
The Avon Land Trust Saturday, Nov. 16, is hosting a volunteer work group on the Nod Road trails to rid the area of invasive vegetation.
AVON, CT — The weather is supposed to be dry and cool this Saturday, so it is a great time for folks to join the Avon Land Trust Saturday and learn a thing or two about invasive plants.
The trust — which has preserved several parcels in town for passive recreation use — is hosting a work/education program at the Nod Road Trail Head, 146 Nod Road, on Saturday, Nov. 16.
Starting at 10 a.m., volunteers are being asked to help the trust remove invasive plants, which can harm the natural ecosystem.

Participants are asked to bring a shovel, spade, lopper, and/or electric sheers as they will be snipping and chopping away unwelcome and non-native plants.
Those helping are also asked to bring work gloves and a tarp, presumably to use to carry away all the invasive plant clippings.
