Home Destroyed By Avon Inferno
The Wednesday afternoon fire was battled by five different fire departments, including Avon, Simsbury, Canton, Farmington and UConn.
AVON, CT — A home on West Avon Road was destroyed by fire late Wednesday afternoon, but authorities did report no injuries were suffered.
According to the Avon Police Department's Facebook page, the blaze took place at a home between Burnham Road and Country Club Road.
As a result, the road was closed and motorists were asked to seek alternate routes, police said.

By Wednesday evening, police reported that the Avon Volunteer Fire Department had the blaze under control and no residents of the home or first responders were hurt.
The fire is being investigated by the Avon Fire Marshal's office.

In addition to Avon, firefighters from Simsbury, Canton, Farmington and the University of Connecticut responded to the scene.
