Identity Theft A Concern In Avon
Avon police issue warnings about scam involving fraudulent unemployment benefits.

AVON, CT — Local police recently warned residents of an ongoing spike in identity theft both locally and statewide.
According to the Avon Police Department last week, a new scam involves a con artist looking to use the victim's information to fraudulently collect unemployment benefits.
"Criminals have sophisticated ways to steal your personal information- by text, emails, and social media," wrote the Avon PD via social media. "Most people don’t realize they are a victim until it’s to late."
