Latest 'Avon Talks' Podcast Takes Us Out To The Ballgame

AVON, CT — The latest edition of the popular 'Avon Talks' podcast will look into the National Pastime, specifically as it relates to the history of youth baseball in Avon.

"Baseball has long been known as America’s favorite pastime. Coincidentally, for many, it also happened to be the only pastime," wrote the Avon Historical Society in an announcement. "That was certainly the case for many of those growing up in Avon in the 1950s."

The podcast, which is available on multiple digital platforms, will feature Bill Severni, David Jadovich and Kevin Reichler.

The trio will discuss the role the sport played in the town as it grew from backyard pick-up games to the formally organized community event it is today via the Avon Little League.

"With relatively few means of interaction with kids outside any given neighborhood and no formally organized activities, most children in this period resorted to baseball to pass the time," wrote the historical society on baseball's grip on Avon's past.
