Major Medicare Changes Topic Of Avon Forum

The Avon Free Public Library and Avon Senior Center will host a workshop on Medicare 2026 changes and plan options.

AVON, CT — A workshop aimed at helping residents understand upcoming changes to Medicare will be held Thursday, March 19, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the community room of the Avon Free Public Library, 281 Country Club Road.

Titled “Medicare 2026: Understanding Changes and Coverage Options,” the session will be led by experts Lou and Jessica Pelletier, a father-daughter team presenting on the structure and updates to the federal health insurance program.

Organizers said the workshop will cover the core components of Medicare, including Part A (hospital coverage), Part B (physician and outpatient services), and Part D (prescription drug coverage), as well as changes to Medicare drug plans this year.

Presenters will also review the advantages and drawbacks of Medicare Supplement plans and Medicare Advantage plans. Additional topics include IRMAA (Income Related Monthly Adjusted Amount), Medicare Savings Programs, and the role of a medical power of attorney in long-term planning.

The event is co-sponsored by the Avon Free Public Library and Avon Senior Center and is intended for seniors, their families, and others seeking to better understand Medicare decisions.
