Meet Avon FD Leaders At 'Coffee With The Chiefs' Event Next Week
Avon residents can meet with AVFD officials over coffee at Doro Marketplace to discuss fire service operations and safety.

AVON, CT — The Avon Volunteer Fire Department will host its first “Coffee with the Chiefs” event on Tuesday, May 12, offering residents an opportunity to meet with department leadership and learn more about local fire and emergency services.
The informal drop-in gathering will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. at Doro Marketplace, 300 W. Main St., Avon.
According to the department, residents will be able to speak with AVFD Fire Chief Bruce Appell and other department leaders about how the fire department operates and the challenges involved in maintaining modern emergency response services.

Topics expected to be discussed include fire protection and water supply, emergency response operations, apparatus and equipment needs, firehouse facilities and infrastructure, and fire safety and prevention.
The event is intended to encourage open conversation between residents and department officials.
