New 4-Way Stop Instituted at Busy Avon Intersection

AVON, CT — Effective at noon Wednesday, motorists began encountering something different at one of the busiest intersections in Avon: a four-way stop at Country Club and Burnham roads.

The new all-way stop is a permanent modification at the busy crossroads and has been established to enhance road safety at the intersection, based on a recommendation of an independent traffic study, Avon police said.

Signage has also been posted for vehicles approaching the intersection, warning them of the new four-way stop, police said.
