The fledgling Avon organization is planning a debut show next spring in West Hartford.

AVON, CT — A fledgling theater group in Avon took a major step toward existence last week when "Playhouse 44" elected its first board of directors and officers.
The election happened on Oct. 4.
"During the meeting, participants offered feedback on the establishment of several important committees and shared enthusiasm on the group's first planned production," wrote Playhouse 44 in a statement released Tuesday.

The effort is the brainchild of Samberg, a local journalist, writer, and playwright, who earlier this year announced plans to form a community theater group.
Since the announcement in March, several volunteers in the community have been meeting and planning the new group's organization.
The goal is for a local group to put on professional-quality shows by volunteer theater lovers.
Though based out of Avon, the theater group is planning to utilize the space at The Renbrook School in West Hartford for its debut performance, tentatively entitled "Eight Tens on Fourty-Four."
Renbrook is a private day school in West Hartfordand it's located at 2865 Albany Ave., West Hartford.
