New Counseling Group in the Farmington Valley

We are pleased to announce the opening of The Family Counseling Group of Farmington Valley, LLC, located in Canton, CT. The group co-founders, Louisa Krause, owner of Seeking Out Solutions, LLC, of Canton and Debbi Knox, owner of New Day Counseling of Avon, are both licensed marriage and family therapists and supervisors approved by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and, as well, have facilitated as adjunct professors at CCSU.

The Family Counseling Group provides caring and affordable therapy through a multi-specialty group covering an array of issues that individuals and families encounter throughout their lifetime.

Their unique specialties cover diverse areas of care for the well-being of adults and children: Depression, anxiety, infidelity, divorce, remarriage and step families, domestic violence and sexual assault, grief, elderly issues, Christian counseling, etc. The group counts with two additional MFTs, Rene Drozdziel and Danielle Sondeen and two interns. Together, the team of therapists brings over 32 years of experience in helping families navigate through challenges in life, successfully overcoming difficulties.

Counseling is offered to families, couples, individuals, children and adolescents and new clients are being accepted. Most health insurances are accepted as well as out-of-pocket payment. The group is excited to be able to offer the following groups to the community:

Divorce/Separation Support Group for Women: Searching Our Selves

This group will aid in personal growth through self-discovery, in order to heal from wounds of the ending of a current or previous love relationship. Beginning September 28, 8 Wednesday evening sessions, 7-8:30 pm. Cost $30 per session

Walk the Talk, Talk the Walk

Walking and talking your way to physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Beginning September 24, 6 Saturday morning sessions 8:30-10 am. 1/2 hour educational session on health and wellness followed by 1 hour walk with contemplation and discussion.

Cost: $30 per session or $150 for all 6 sessions

Grief Support Group for Children

We present a grief program for children that will help them grow through the healing power of play. This program is designed for children that have lost a loved one, parent, sibling, relative or friend. The children will share stories, identify feelings and emotions, learn coping strategies, and honor their loved ones’ memory.

Children 6 – 9 years old: Sept 20, 27, Oct 4, 11, 18, 25 from 5- 6pm

Children 10 – 13 years old: Nov 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 Dec 6 from 5- 6pm

Divorce Support Group for Children

This group will provide a safe and supportive environment where children ages 7-10 can share and process their experiences and emotions around divorce in their family.
