No Co-Champions This Time - Avon Wins Title Outright

Falcons go into overtime, but defeat Wethersfield for Class L boys soccer championship.

For the second straight season, Avon went into overtime in the Class L boys soccer championship game Saturday.

Unlike last year, when Branford and the Falcons remained tied after 30 minutes of extra play and were declared co-champions, this year’s crown would be decided after 110 minutes of grueling action.

Fortunately for Avon, Jack Keenan drilled home two goals for the third straight game, including one in overtime, to lift the Falcons to a 3-1 victory at Middletown High School, the Hartford Courant reported.
