AVON, CT - Organizers of Project Graduation at Avon High School are seeking donors to offset the cost of the annual event.

For more than 25 years, Avon High School Project Graduation has hosted a drug- and alcohol-free party for AHS seniors on the night of their graduation.

The all-night event features refreshments, entertainment, games, and prizes, and is fully funded by donations and sponsorships from parents, friends and businesses from the community at large.

According to event co-chair, Joan Miller, 90 to 95 percent of the graduates attend every year.

“Project Graduation is a not-to-miss event that our students remember for a lifetime,” she said.

The event planning committee is currently accepting gift certificates, raffle prizes, and monetary donations. In addition, it seeks local businesses like salons, grocers and restaurants to host one-day fundraisers during which a percentage of the daily sales goes to Project Graduation.

Donors should contact Avon Project Graduation Treasurer Deb Horovitz at 860-321-7450 or horovitzfamily22@comcast.net, to contribute. All donors will be recognized in the Avon Project Graduation Honor Roll published in local print and e-news sources in June, and businesses can display a certificate of Participation throughout the year.
