The Whigville Preservation Group is proud to announce the first-ever Whigville Harvest Fest to be held on Sunday October 23rd in conjunction with the 7th Annual Burlington 5K Run/Walk presented by the Burlington Land Trust (more details below).

Taking place during the height of the fall season and the foliage, there will be fun for the entire family before and after the 5K race, such as kids’ games and activities, arts and crafts, a petting zoo, tractors on display, baked goods, local produce, a silent auction, and much more.

“This is truly a community effort reflecting the agricultural heritage that is so important to all of us in the Whigville community,” said Patti Smaldone, leader of the Whigville Preservation Group. “After the 5K race came to Whigville last year we realized how much others also love our bucolic section of town and the idea for the harvest fest was planted.”

The Whigville Preservation Group is the latest project of the Burlington Land Trust, which has recently completed preservation efforts (Fetzer Property and Taine Mountain II) in other sections of town.

“The fields that define Whigville, the old farms, are not only beautiful, but quickly disappearing in northwestern Connecticut,” said Paul Rochford, President of the Burlington Land Trust. “The passion and dedication of the people in Whigville is like a breath of fresh air, and after several successful years we are thrilled to now focus some of our efforts on Whigville, the oldest section of our town with its stunning agrarian landscapes.”

The Whigville Harvest Fest will take place on Sunday, October 23rd from 10:00am – 2:00pm at the Whigville Grange, 153 South Main Street, Burlington, CT. The Burlington 5K Run/Walk presented by the Burlington Land Trust will start at 11:00amsharp at the same location. For more information, email jon@joncrane.com.
