Pride Flag Raising To Show 'Avon Cares'
Avon officials will host a Pride Flag-raising ceremony at the Avon Free Public Library Saturday, June 1, the first day of Pride Month.

AVON, CT — Folks are invited to the Avon Free Public Library on Saturday as the community will celebrate the start of Pride Month by hoisting the Pride Flag.
Community members, including the Avon Town Council, are expected at the event Saturday, June 1, at 2 p.m. The library is located at 281 Country Club Road, Avon.
There, local leaders will read a proclamation from the town council declaring June LGBTQ+ Pride Month in Avon.

The flag-raising event is also in conjunction with the locally-based "Avon Cares" movement, in which "Avon Cares" lawn signs are sold with the proceeds benefitting Avon High School LGBTQ+ groups.
In addition, the movement has resulted in the Avon Cares scholarship, which is awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrates their commitment to caring for the LGBTQ+ community.
