Scholarship Drive Donations Sought For Avon High School Seniors

AVON, CT — February may be the calendar's shortest month, but its also a key month for Avon High School students looking to expand their education past high school.

February is the Avon Dollars for Scholars' program fund-raising drive, with donations being sought and collected all month long.

The program provides necessary funding for qualifying students who need some help in their higher education endeavors.

Benefactors who donate $25 or more can receive a nice drawsting backpack or a canvas tote bag as designed by AHS students.

The bags have scenes of Avon's rural past on them and represent a carry-on reminder of the town's rural charm.

Last year, according to Avon Dollars for Scholars, the program was able to award $73,000 to 63 graduating members of the Class of 2022.

The hope is to eclipse that mark for 2023.
