Several Units Rush To House Fire In Avon: AVFD
Units from Farmington, Avon, Canton, and Simsbury tended to the smoky blaze on Wednesday afternoon.

AVON, CT — Working fire alarms and the Avon Volunteer Fire Department's quick response are being cited as reasons a house fire on Wednesday afternoon wasn't worse than it was.
According to the AVFD, crews were called for a report of a smoke-filled room in a home on Reverknolls.
Upon arrival, a working fire was confirmed, and a second alarm was struck, and the tanker task force was activated, the AVFD reported.

"The fire, located in a bedroom, was quickly knocked down thanks in part to the homeowner being alerted early by a working smoke detector and the rapid response of the AVFD and our mutual aid partners," wrote the AVFD in a statement.
Those partners included the Tunxis Hose Company No. 1, Simsbury Volunteer Fire Co., Farmington Fire Department, Town of West Hartford Fire Department, Canton, CT Fire and EMS Department, IAFF Local S-15, UConn Fire Rescue, Station 122 - Farmington, and the tanker strike team from Task Force 54.

No injuries were reported.
"We are grateful for the teamwork and support of all responding agencies," wrote the AVFD.
"This incident is an important reminder that working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms save lives. Please take a moment to check your alarms monthly and replace batteries as needed — those few seconds can make all the difference."
