Sewer Pump Upgrade In Avon Going To Voters
A special town meeting is slated for Tuesday, Oct. 3, to decide a large appropriation to upgrade a sewer pump station off Route 44.

AVON, CT — Local voters have some work to do and, while the task may not seem glamorous, it is a necessary component of quality of life and maintaining healthy conditions in the community.
Because, while many might not know when a sewer pump is working fine, they definitely know when it isn't.

A special town meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. at Avon High School's auditorium, 510 West Avon Road, to address such a situation.
There, voters will decide to appropriate $500,000 of grant funds and $1,325,000 of sewer funds for costs related to the upgrade of the Route 44 sanitary sewer pump station.

"It is important to note that this project is proposed to be funded by the Sewer Special Revenue Fund and offset by a grant from the State of Connecticut," wrote the town in an announcement. "The sewer special revenue fund is supported entirely by user fees paid by sewer customers. If approved, this project would not be funded by property tax revenues."
The meeting will also be live-streamed via the Internet.

Electors of the town and qualified voters wishing to provide public comment or vote on the resolution must attend the meeting in person at the high school.
There will be no opportunity for the virtual audience to provide public comment or vote on the resolutions.
