Significant Road Project Begins In Avon, Traffic Delays Expected

AVON, CT — Drivers using Arch Road can expect delays over the next several weeks as the Town of Avon begins a road improvement project that includes drainage upgrades, roadway reconstruction and bicycle and pedestrian connectivity enhancements.

According to the Department of Public Works, crews have started drainage work along Arch Road from West Avon Road east to Old Farms Road.

Significant reconstruction activity is also underway near Security Drive extending east toward Old Farms Road to support planned connectivity improvements.

Town officials estimate the reconstruction phase will take approximately 60 to 90 days, weather permitting.

Arch Road is expected to remain open during construction, although traffic will be reduced to a single alternating lane during active work hours.

The town noted that traffic patterns could change if construction conditions require additional restrictions.

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time, expect minor delays, consider alternate routes when possible, and use caution around construction crews.

The project will conclude with paving the full length of Arch Road.

That work has not yet been scheduled but is expected to take place in September.
