Simsbury-Based Pediatric Cancer Charity To Host Major Event In Avon

SIMSBURY/AVON, CT — A Simsbury-based charity dedicated to fighting pediatric cancer is having a special event in Avon next week.

Vie for the Kids, an all-volunteer charity working to improve pediatric cancer treatment options and outcomes, is hosting the second annual Gold Ribbon Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Golf Club of Avon, 160 Country Club Road, Avon.

More than 100 guests attended last year’s event, and raised $10,000, which went directly to where it is needed the most–the pediatric oncology clinic at Connecticut Children’s in Hartford.

Since 2007, Vie for the Kids has organized and hosted a variety of fundraising events across the
Farmington Valley and it has raised over $1 million.

"The Gold Ribbon Dinner is a truly engaging and meaningful evening that brings friends and neighbors together in the fight to cure childhood cancer," wrote the charity in an announcement.

"Come join Vie for the Kids in supporting Childhood Cancer Awareness Month for a buffet dinner, a robust silent auction, a raffle, and a wine pull.

"With your help, we can continue to raise money to provide funding for pediatric cancer clinical trials, treatment, research, and financial support for pediatric patients and their families."

Guests are encouraged to wear dressy casual attire and add a touch of gold (optional).
