Staff Issues Prompt Avon Building Department Changes

The department announced Wednesday limits on when it does building inspections and permit reviews.

AVON, CT — Citing staffing levels, the Town of Avon building department Wednesday announced changes to its inspection and permit review routine.

According to the department, building inspections will only take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Meanwhile, permit reviews will be done on Tuesdays and Thursdays, officials said.

The department said the situation is temporary and regular schedules will commence after staff levels improve.

"Please provide one week notice for all inspection requests," wrote the town. "Thank you in advance for your cooperation as we work to resume normal operations as quickly as possible."

The town is currently seeking a new building official to help and it posted information on how to apply for the job.
