Strong Storms Approaching Hartford, Tolland Counties Monday Afternoon

AVON, CT - The National Weather Service has issued a warning about a strong system of thunderstorms that could pass through Tolland and Hartford Counties on Monday afternoon.

At 2:15, the storms were headed this way after passing through eastern New York at 35 mph. the National Weather Service said. And they were headed straight for Hartford and Tolland Counties with a likely encounter with the Farmington Valley at 4 p.m.

Winds could be 40 mph, the weather service with frequent lightning and downpours, the weather service said.

The storm is moving fast so anyone hearing thunder should move to safe shelter immediately, the weather service said.
