Traffic Safety Forum Canceled In Avon

Due to 'unforeseen circumstances,' this event — planned for Tuesday, Aug. 30 — is canceled.

AVON, CT — A planned public forum to address concerns of traffic safety in town was canceled Tuesday.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, this event is canceled," reads a Town of Avon news release on the issue.

Avon residents and invited guests, including representatives from the Avon Police Department and state and local elected officials were expected to come together Tuesday to discuss the situation.

Event organizers, who were members of the community, cited a perceived rise in erratic, reckless and dangerous driving in Avon.

Participants were expected to share concerns, ask questions and work together to come up with solutions for how to make Avon a more pedestrian, bike, pet, and kid-friendly town.
