Volunteers Sought For Health District Task Force
The towns involved are Avon, Barkhamsted, Canton, Colebrook, East Granby, Farmington, Granby, Hartland, New Hartford and Simsbury.
AVON, CT — The regional health department serving 10 area towns will convene in Avon on Monday for a special forum to create a new task force.
The Farmington Valley Health District, which is based in Canton but represents several towns, is hosting a special forum Monday, Sept. 18, at the Avon Senior Center, 635 W. Avon Road, Avon.
It will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the senior center.

There, it will seek new members to work on advising the health department on various policies geared toward public health in FVHD communities, which include: Avon; Barkhamsted; Canton; Colebrook; East Granby; Farmington; Granby; Hartland; New Hartford; and Simsbury.
Specifically, the task force will include subgroups working on improving regional mental health care, helping folks age in a healthy manner and encourage healthy eating and an active lifestyle.

"Be a part of our community health improvement plan (CHIP) and share your ideas for improving health in the Farmington Valley," reads an announcement of Monday's forum.
