Volunteers Sought To Rid Avon Park Of Invasive Plants
The Avon Clean Energy Commission is hosting a community event on Saturday, Nov. 18, to cut out those pesky weeds at a local park.

AVON, CT — In an event that can only be described as the opposite of a springtime garden planting event, the Avon Clean Energy Commission is hosting an event to rid a local park of invasive plant species.
With the charge of "Clip, Clip Hooray," the commission is asking folks to show up on Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Fisher Meadows Recreation Area parking lot, 800 Old Farms Road.
It's being called "Invasive Plant Removal Day."

From there, volunteers (no children) will get to work from 10 a.m. to noon and clip away as many non-native, invasive plant species as possible.
Participants are asked to "BYOC" or "bring your own clippers."
