Witch Trial Show To Be Presented By Avon Church

AVON, CT — A local church is hosting an educational and entertaining program that is perfect for this time of year.

The Avon Congregational Church, 6 W. Main St., Avon, will present "The Witch Tryal" in its historic Meetinghouse, on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27-28 at 7:30 p.m.

It is a theatrical portrayal of Salem, Mass.’s 1692, which featured one of the most tragic and infamous moments in America's history.

The program utilizes primary source documents to recreate the trial of a sharp-tongued widow.

A colonial-style reception will follow.

The performance is not appropriate for young children due to the subject matter and intense emotion.
