WW II Exhibit at the Avon Public Library
The Avon Public Library is pleased to present an exhibit of World War II veterans' narrative histories June 15 - August 31.
The exhibit, “A Tribute to World War II Veterans of Avon’s VFW Post 3272 On Their 70th Anniversary” is the result of an ongoing life-long research project conducted by Avon’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3272 historian, Bill Newman and based on extensive interviews with veterans and their families. The exhibit will feature narrative histories of living WWII veterans and commemorative photographs of veterans who are deceased; as well as annotated maps of the European & Pacific theaters with a special tribute to those killed in action. The exhibit will be displayed in the library’s gallery through August 31.
On Saturday, June 20, 2015 @ 11:00 am, VFW Post 3272 historian Bill Newman will discuss the exhibit’s narrative histories and explain the remarkable experiences of local WWII veterans who will be in attendance. This is an opportunity to meet local WWII veterans and hear their stories! Students and families are welcome. Refreshments will be served at 10:30 am. The talk will be in the Community Room adjacent to the exhibit.
