3 Rushed To Hospital After Early-Morning House Fire In Berlin: BVFD

BERLIN, CT — Three residents were taken to a hospital after an early-morning house fire Wednesday in Berlin, according to the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department.

The town's dispatch center received a call at 4:02 a.m. from residents of 306 Mooreland Road reporting that smoke was filling their home, fire officials said.

The first fire officer to arrive found smoke inside the house and the occupants outside in the front yard.

All three residents were accounted for and evaluated at the scene for smoke inhalation before being transported to an area hospital, according to the department.

Firefighters entered the house and extinguished an active fire in the attic.

The home sustained moderate smoke and water damage, and fire officials said the residents are expected to be displaced.

No pets were inside the house, and no firefighters were reported injured.

Berlin received mutual aid from its Task Force 51 partners.

The Berlin Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
