BERLIN, CT — The Berlin Parks and Recreation Department opened registration Monday, April 27, for its “Summer Fun at The Creek” 2026 program, a full-day summer offering for children ages 5 to 12.

The program will run from June 22 through Aug. 7 at Pistol Creek, operating weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with no session on July 3.

Officials said space is limited and registration will close the Thursday before each session week if openings remain.

The program includes sports, arts and crafts, outdoor games, field trips, and special events.

Weekly visits from the Rock & Roll Ice Cream Truck are scheduled, along with appearances by the Ice Cream Emergency Truck on select dates.

Weekly fees are set at $150, except for the week of June 29, which is $135.

The cost includes all field trips and special events.

Before- and after-care options are available from 8 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 5 p.m., respectively, for an additional $60 per week, with a reduced rate during the June 29 week. A family cap applies to extended care fees.

Children must bring a daily lunch, snack, and beverage, with refrigeration provided.

Hard-sided lunch boxes and glass bottles are not permitted, and all items must be labeled with the child’s full name.

Junior counselors

The department is also accepting applications beginning May 4 for junior counselors ages 13 to 15.

Officials said applicants must be Berlin residents, will be interviewed, and may not be assigned every week due to limited availability.

The application deadline is May 22, and selected participants will pay $115 per assigned week.

Financial assistance is available through the Berlin Children’s Fund for up to two weeks per child, with a reduced weekly fee of $45.

Officials said applicants were required to submit approval forms by April 23 to secure eligibility.

Parents and guardians must complete a Summer Program Release Agreement form for each child, identifying authorized pickup individuals.

Photo identification will be required at pickup.

Officials said children who are ill should not attend the program and that handwashing and sanitizing will be emphasized throughout the day.

All registrations must be completed online through the town’s WebTrac system, with payments accepted by Visa or MasterCard only. Refund requests are subject to a 10% processing fee and additional deductions if submitted after the Monday before the registered week.
