📰 News we're reading

• Berlin Voters Reject Town/School Budgets Amid Low Turnout, Split Views (patch.com) — Berlin residents narrowly turned out to reject both the town government and school budgets for 2026–27, sending officials back to revise a combined $110 million spending plan. With just 9.39% of eligible voters casting ballots, opinions were sharply split on whether the Berlin budgets were too high or too low, and a revised proposal is expected to go to another referendum next month.

• University of Hartford Athletics (hartfordhawks.com) — Berlin’s own Evan Gentile helped keep Coast Guard hitless during his two innings on the mound as the University of Hartford baseball team narrowly fell 5-4 in New London. The recap highlights key pitching changes, clutch hits, and sets up the Hawks’ season-ending doubleheader at Gordon College on May 2.
