Berlin PD Extradites Suspect Of Violent Purse Snatching That Hurt Elderly Woman: Police

The Florida man and former East Hartford resident was charged in a 2025 incident at a CVS pharmacy that injured a local woman.

BERLIN, CT — The previously identified man accused of knocking a 71-year-old woman to the ground during a purse snatching at a Farmington Avenue pharmacy and later using her debit cards for thousands of dollars in purchases has been extradited to Connecticut, police said Thursday.

The incident occurred on March 5, 2025, in the parking lot of a CVS at 1055 Farmington Ave., according to the Berlin Police Department.

The victim suffered an arm injury after being pushed to the ground.

Police said the suspect used the stolen debit cards to make more than $5,000 in purchases and withdrawals within 24 hours.

Investigators identified the suspect as Jeanerood Paul, now 26, formerly of East Hartford.

Police said Paul relocated to Florida shortly after the incident.

With assistance from the Sunrise, Fla., Police Department, Paul was taken into custody on July 17, 2025, and held as a fugitive from justice on pending Connecticut charges.

Berlin detectives extradited Paul to Connecticut on Wednesday, April 29, and arrested him on a warrant charging conspiracy to commit robbery in the third degree, larceny in the third degree, illegal use of a payment card, operating under suspension, and improper use of a marker plate.

Paul is being held on a $75,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned at New Britain Superior Court.
