BERLIN, CT — A prominent place where area children learned agility and developed athletic skills and coordination will shutter for good in Berlin.
announced it will permanently close this weekend after 14 years serving families in the Berlin area.
The gymnastics center, located at 100 Clark Drive, said its final day of classes will be Saturday, May 23.
In a statement shared with families, the business said the decision was made because of “personal, medical, and family reasons.”
Owners described the closure as “the incredibly difficult decision” and thanked families for their support over the years.
“We’ve watched toddlers take their very first forward rolls and cartwheels, seen nervous beginners grow into confident athletes, and shared countless high-fives, hugs, and laughs along the way,” the statement said.
The gym plans to host a farewell open gym event on May 23 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. for current and former students and families.
Organizers said attendees will be able to play in the gym, take photos and celebrate the facility’s final day.
Sam’s Academy also said additional information about refunds, remaining account credits and recommendations for other local gymnastics programs will be provided in the coming weeks.
The facility has operated in East Berlin since 2012 and served children and families throughout central Connecticut.
