Berlin Firefighters Swarm Early-Morning Shed Inferno

BERLIN, CT — Firefighters from Berlin’s four volunteer fire departments responded early Wednesday morning to a shed fire on Main Street in East Berlin that officials said was likely caused by an electrical issue.

According to the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department, crews were dispatched at approximately 2:29 a.m. to a rear-yard fire involving a 10-by-10-foot shed.

Firefighters from the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department, East Berlin Volunteer Fire Company, Kensington Volunteer Fire-Rescue, and South Kensington Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.

They worked for about an hour extinguishing the fire and overhauling the structure.

The East Berlin Volunteer Fire Department said Engine 7 arrived to find the shed fully involved in flames and crews “made quick work of the fire.”

Officials said the fire was contained to the shed and a small section of fencing, preventing further property damage.

The Berlin Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the incident and determined that the fire was believed to have been electrical in nature.

No injuries were reported.
