BERLIN, CT — Local police this week went shopping at a local tool retailer and came away with a fleeing criminal suspect.
Berlin police arrested a man Monday after a foot pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies ended inside a local Harbor Freight Tools store.
According to the Berlin Police Department, officers responded on June 22 to investigate a reported violation of a protective order.
During the response, the suspect, identified by police as Tyree Jenkins, 26, of Hartford, fled on foot, police said.
The pursuit prompted the deployment of a Berlin police K-9 officer and mutual aid assistance from the Newington Police Department and Connecticut State Police, according to authorities.
After what police described as a lengthy foot pursuit, officers located Jenkins hiding inside a shelving unit at Harbor Freight Tools, 179 Webster Square Road.
Jenkins was taken into custody and charged with violation of a protective order and interfering with an officer/resisting arrest.
According to police, Jenkins was held on a $50,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned on June 23 in New Britain Superior Court.
