1. Firefighters Rush To Explosion, Fire At Berlin Manufacturer (patch.com) — Berlin firefighters from all four town companies rushed to an explosion and fire at Precision Punch and Tooling on Christian Lane, where employees had already begun battling the flames with extinguishers. Crews quickly knocked down the fire, ventilated the building, and nearby roads were briefly closed, but no one required hospitalization and no firefighters were hurt. State environmental officials also assisted because the blaze involved cooling oil and facility ventilation systems.
2. Water Main Break Impacts Customers In East Berlin (patch.com) — Residents in East Berlin are dealing with a water main break on Main Street between Chestnut and Mill streets, affecting about 20 to 30 customers. Town officials say repair crews are on scene, but there is no estimated time yet for when service will be fully restored.

This part-time CT resident, Tennis Hall of Famer has turned his competitive fire to pickleball (courant.com) — Berlin resident and former Berlin High tennis standout Scott Trevethan now trains and competes in pickleball alongside Hall of Famer Ivan Lendl, often practicing at Camp Pickleball in Plainville. The story traces how Trevethan's Berlin roots, his son's success at Berlin High, and his partnership with Lendl have turned a casual hobby into high-level competition and team ownership.
4. Cyclospora outbreak drives more shoppers to Connecticut farm stands (wfsb.com) — A recent Cyclospora outbreak linked to grocery store lettuce has pushed more shoppers toward local farm stands, including Cold Brook Spring Farm in Berlin. The farm reports selling nearly every head of lettuce it grew, with Berlin residents saying they now rely on local stands for most of their vegetables and to support nearby growers.
