13 Berlin Students Receive Scholarships From the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain

13 Berlin students receive college and university scholarships through the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain

Total of 48 scholarships awarded to students in five towns

Berlin, Conn. (July 13, 2012) – William Bergeron, Sarah Brochu, William Cavedon, Sabrina Couciero, Chelsea Farrington, Tyler Feger, Samantha Kelley, Kevin Knopf, Karol Kolc, Taylor Recck, Shawna Rosol, Jack Tomascak and Rachel Zelek have received scholarships from the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain (CFGNB) to pursue their college degrees. The Foundation recently provided scholarships totaling $135,830 to 48 students in Berlin, New Britain, Newington, Plainville and Southington. CFGNB manages more than 40 various scholarship funds created by individuals or organizations designed to support high school seniors and college students with financial support in their pursuit of higher education.

This year’s scholarship recipients will be attending schools throughout Connecticut and the U.S. including the University of Connecticut, Central Connecticut State University, Goodwin College, Fairfield University, Western New England University, University of Saint Joseph, Brown University, American University and Stanford University, among others.

 

“We’re proud that the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain’s scholarship funds are playing a role in preparing tomorrow’s workforce by helping our region’s students pursue their educational goals. Anyone who values education and wants to make a positive difference in the lives of local students can do so as a donor to one of our many excellent scholarship funds,” said James Jones, dean of students, Louis P. Slade Middle School, and chair of CFGNB’s Scholarship Committee.

Students or parents interested in learning more about applying in the future for the many scholarships managed by CFGNB should contact their high school’s guidance department.
