Annual CT Buddy Walk To Be Held In New Britain

The goals of the program are to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome on local and national levels.

From DS Stride: The Annual Connecticut Buddy Walk® will take place at the New Britain Bee’s Stadium on September 8, 2018 from 10am to 2pm. More than 1,500 people are expected to attend the event, which is one of over 250 Walks across the country this fall to raise awareness and funds for programs that benefit people with Down syndrome and their families.

The National Buddy Walk® Program welcomes participants of all ages and abilities. The goals of the program are to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome and to positively influence local and national policy and practice. As of 2017, the National Buddy Walk® Program has grown to more than 330,000 participants who raised more than $14.2 million dollars in more than 250 events across the country and around the world. This program benefits national advocacy initiatives, as well as local programs and services. All funds raised through the National Buddy Walk® Program support both local and national programs.

Activities at the Connecticut Buddy Walk® will include fun for all ages. There will be games, inflatable obstacle courses, a bounce house, an inflatable slide, a carousel, face painting, glitter tattoos, therapy dogs, a hands-on music tent, a DJ and music, clowns, crafts, and many surprise characters. We are also happy to announce a special Touch-A-Truck area, featuring a fire truck, a police cruiser, an ambulance and a monster truck from the U.S. Army. Pre-registration is appreciated, but walk-ins the day of the event are welcome.
