Application Deadline Nears for Community Sponsorship Awards in Berlin
The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain funds programs in Berlin and surrounding communities.

The deadline to apply for Community Sponsorship Awards that are offered by the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain is approaching.
Organizers of community events in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington scheduled to take place between July 1 and Dec. 31 can apply for the final round of 2015 funding. Applications are due Friday, May 1.
The initiative, begun last year as a pilot program, will be celebrating one year of providing financial support through sponsorship of local events that celebrate and promote children and families, arts, culture and heritage, education and civic engagement. So far, nearly $9,000 in sponsorship awards have been made to 14 community events including the New Britain-Berlin YMCA’s Tinsel Fun Run, the New Britain Downtown Halloween Trick or Treat Safe Zone, the Plainville Wind Ensemble’s 2015 Spring Concert and the Southington Apple Harvest Festival.

“This program is an outstanding way for local events to earn much-needed financial support, and is a great way for the Foundation to raise awareness of the work we do in the four communities we serve,” CFGNB Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Bob Trojanowski said in a statement.
The Foundation will be making a limited number of Community Sponsorship Awards to 501(c)(3) organizations conducting community special events in its four-town service area during the specified time period. Requests should not exceed $750. However, the Foundation may consider awards larger than $750 at its discretion. Awards are limited to one award per organization or event per year. Awards will not be made to support golf tournaments or annual meetings.
