Arata Gets Independent Party Nod For 83rd
83rd House hopeful Lou Arata, a Republican, has received the Independent Party's endorsement for the upcoming election.

BERLIN – The Independent Party of Connecticut has officially cross-endorsed Meriden resident Lou Arata, the GOP candidate for state representative for the 83rd House District.
The district is composed of Berlin, Cheshire and Meriden.
“To have the backing of the Independent Party is gratifying, and like so many of its members, my focus is on returning integrity to all of our political offices and maintaining transparency in government,” Arata said.

“So many of the ideals that I’ve been discussing with voters on the campaign trail align with the party’s principles, such as putting people over politics, and I greatly appreciate the faith they have put in me to represent them in the 83rd District.”
In recent weeks, Arata has gained the backing of the Connecticut State Fraternal Order of Police.

He is facing off against Democratic opponent Jonathan "Jack" Fazzino of Berlin.
