Berlin Warns Temporary Water Discoloration Possible Due To Hydrant Flushing
Berlin Water Control will flush hydrants this month into May as residents may see temporary water discoloration.
BERLIN, CT — Berlin residents should expect temporary changes to their water service as the town begins its annual spring hydrant flushing next week.
Berlin Water Control announced that flushing will run from Monday, April 20, through Wednesday, May 20, taking place between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Crews will service sections of the system incrementally during that period.

Officials said residents may notice temporary discoloration in their water while flushing is underway in their area.
The process is routine and designed to maintain water quality by clearing sediment from the lines.

Customers experiencing rust-colored water are advised to avoid doing laundry until the water runs clear.
If discoloration affects clothing, residents can rewash items using regular detergent and about one cup of white vinegar.
Berlin Water Control emphasized that the flushing program is part of ongoing efforts to ensure safe, clean drinking water for the community.
