Berlin 2021 Election Voter Guide: Meet The Candidates

Here's what you need to know concerning the 2021 Berlin local elections including the candidates, polling places, voting hours and more.

BERLIN, CT β€” On Nov. 2, Berlin residents cast their votes for several key municipal positions. Contested races include: the position of mayor, judge of probate, Town Council, Board of Education, Board of Finance, Board of Assessment Appeal, and Board of Police Commissioners.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 2. Voters who are in line before 8 p.m. will be able to vote even after the deadline passes. You can find your poll location at the Secretary of the State website by inputting your information.

You can request an absentee ballot here or you can visit your town clerk's office. All voters are eligible to check the top box that lists "COVID-19" as a reason for requesting an absentee ballot.

In Berlin, the choice for mayor is between Sam Lomaglio, a Democrat, and Mark Kaczynski, a Republican. The choice for Judge of Probate is between William C. Rivera, a Democrat, versus Michael A. Carrier, a Republican. Kaczynski was first elected mayor in 2015.

For Town Council the choices are: Jack Fazzino, Mike Urrunaga, Peter Rosso, all Democrats, and Charles Paonessa, Donna Veach, Brendan Luddy, all Republicans. You can vote for up to six candidates.


For Board of Finance the candidates are: Gerald P.Paradis, a Democrat, versus Sal Bordonaro and George Millerd, both Republicans. You can vote for up to three candidates.


For Board of Assessment Appeal the candidates are: Stuart Topliff, a Democrat, versus John Frink, a Republican. You will vote for one candidate.


For Police Commission the candidates are: Melissa Garden-Urrunaga, Peter Zarabozo, both Democrats, versus Paul N. Eshoo. You can vote for up to two candidates.


The Board of Education candidates: Adam Salina, Gina Nappi, Melissa Anne Gibbons, Matthew T. Tencza, Deborah L. Reed, Julia Motte Dennis, Tracy D. Sisti, Mary Kathryn Larose, Richard J. Dedominicis, and Mark M. Pruzin. You'll vote for up to six candidates.
