Berlin Rec: Good News/Bad News On Swimming Offerings
While the Town of Berlin had to close one public swimming pool, it announce that swim permits at other sites go on sale Monday, May 8.
BERLIN, CT β Town officials had some good news and bad news regarding summer recreational offerings, especially as they pertain to swimming in town.
Sadly, the Town of Berlin announced the Demore, Dinda, Bittner Jr. Memorial Pool at 36 Wilcox Court in East Berlin will not be opening this summer due to lack of adequate staffing.
That news comes, however, as the town announce Friday it will begin selling swim passes for other town-operating swimming destinations.

Sales for those begin Monday, May 8, and the passes are for residents of Berlin and they can only be acquired in the Berlin Parks and Recreation office.
"Anyone over 18 must show an ID and proof of residency to get their pass," wrote the town Friday.

Berlin recreation officials also announced details on the "Berlin Dolphin Swim Team," a Caregiver Pass program and swimming lesson signups.
Swim lesson registration begins May 22.
In addition to swimming programs, registration for summer programs for residents will start on Monday, May 8.
