Berlin GOP Launches Student Essay Contest Celebrating America's 250th
Berlin students in grades 6-12 can compete for $250 prizes in an essay contest about the American flag. Entries are due July 31.
BERLIN, CT — The Berlin Republican Town Committee is inviting local middle and high school students to participate in a summer essay contest commemorating the nation's 250th anniversary.
The contest, themed "What the American Flag Means to Me," is open to Berlin residents entering grades 6 through 12 in fall 2026, including students attending public, private, parochial and trade schools, as well as homeschooled students at an equivalent grade level.
The contest is sponsored by the Berlin Republican Town Committee.

The committee will award $250 first-place prizes in both the middle school and high school divisions.
Entries must be received by July 31, 2026.

The essay competition is one of several local initiatives marking America's 250th anniversary, encouraging students to reflect on the significance of the U.S. flag and what it represents to them.
