Berlin High School Teacher Found Guilty In Sexual Assault Case
A Berlin high school teacher was found guilty of sexual assault Friday.
BERLIN, CT - A Meriden resident and Berlin High School teacher was found guilty of sexual assault Friday, the Meriden Record-Journal reported. Michael Cwirka, 29, entered a no contest plea to three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault.
The judge handed down a three-year suspended prison sentence with three years of probation. He also must register as a sex offender and forfeit his teaching license.
Cwirka was accused of having a relationship with a 17-year-old girl in 2017, according to the Record-Journal.

Cwirka, who taught math and was the head coach of the swimming team, was put on leave in February 2018. He was the victim's swim coach and class adviser and she has since graduated.
