Berlin HS Athletic Stadium Getting Major Facelift

The project to install artificial turf, among other upgrades, will take place through the end of the year.

BERLIN, CT — Berlin High School's main athletic stadium is getting a major facelift this summer and town officials said this week work has already begun.

"The Town of Berlin is excited to announce that we have broken ground on Biscoglio Field behind Berlin High School," wrote the town Monday. "We are converting the grass field inside the track to a synthetic turf surface."

Local officials called this "a highly anticipated and exciting project for the town."

The multi-use field will allow for year-round use by school and local youth athletic teams, giving high school sports another practice facility as well.

Funding for the project was provided by an Urban Act Grant from the State of Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Work is expected to take place all summer long through the fall, with the new stadium opening in the spring of 2024.
