Berlin: Ice Is Now Safe For Skating
The extended cold snap has prompted Berlin officials to open up ponds on town-owned recreational sites for skating.

BERLIN, CT — Local officials Thursday said the extended stretch of cold weather has made it OK to skate on area ponds and lakes.
The Town of Berlin said ice skating is allowed at town recreation facilities.
Skating is now allowed at Paper Goods Pond Park on Hart/Harris Streets; Willard Pond on Norton Road; Hubbard School Pond on Grove Street; and Sage Park on the Berlin Turnpike.

Berlin officials said the town follows the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection ice safety guidelines when it comes to skating at town ponds.
