Berlin Library Literally Challenging Community To Read

The library has multiple challenges that reward local residents for the books they read this year.

BERLIN, CT — The local library has a new, year-long challenge that could add some bling to participants' backpacks and a whole lot of knowledge in their minds.

Through what it calls its "Read & Pin Challenge," The Berlin-Peck Memorial Library is offering a special, reading-theme pin for every book read provided the list is brought to the library office.

The challenge will take place through Dec. 31, and it went into effect Jan. 1.

The library, located at 234 Kensington Road, Berlin, has 16 pins available, meaning that if someone wants to collect them all, they would have to read 80 books this year.

Pins are available at the reference desk and they're about an inch across, making them not suitable for young children, library officials said.
